I handled logistics for the press, including blinding submissions, coordinating with writers and editorial team, and formatting chapbooks; helped develop Board Strategies as Red Bird transitioned into a functioning nonprofit; and wrote an MN State Arts Board grant.

I worked with Clive Collins on Carried Away and Other Stories, James Gapinski on Messiah Tortoise, Sophie Panzer on Survive July, and Jan Stinchcomb on The Blood Trail

I reviewed and produced reports for manuscripts submitted to Coffee House Press, drafted a press release, copyedited website materials, and performed general office responsibilities.

Runestone Literary Journal

ASSOCIATE POETRY EDITOR (2016)

I reviewed poetry submissions from undergraduate students across the United States and led a board of Hamline University BFA in Creative Writing students to choose poems to be included in the third volume of Runestone Literary Journal, which won the  Association of Writers and Writing Program’s National Program Directors’ Prize for Undergraduate Literary Magazines.

I reviewed agented submissions and produced reports on the quality and fit for Graywolf Press, worked through the general submissions to the 2016 Graywolf Nonfiction Prize, and assisted in office responsibilities.

I reviewed contest and general submissions to Water~Stone Review, discussed merits and concerns for pieces, and voted for pieces to be included in the annual review.

I reviewed submissions to Ruminate Magazine for the William Van Dyke Short Story Prize and submitted a long list to the editors.

I organized and provided preliminary vetting for fiction submissions to Ruminate Magazine, copy-edited and proof read issues, managed website blog, and solicited advertisements
